Military Uniforms ~ anyone here collect these ?
Good solid clothing is just as important as anything else. What's in your prep trunk ?!? .....fatigues, uniforms, BDU's ?!? .....or just jeans & t-shirts.
I'm think of buying a few military surplus uniforms.......the East German stuff is pretty dang cheap right now.......plus it's a good backdrop for my AK (lol) I also have a box of BDU's my brother sent me a while back (he's US military - Go Army). |

I would recommend ordering some of the Blackwater style BDUs from their website so you can blend in with them when they decide to sweep streets here in the US.
I wonder if Blackwater guys have government issued IDs or just use their Driver's Licenses? |
Re: Military Uniforms ~ anyone here collect these ?
I use nyco blend BDU's, mostly winters, but not the camo. Coyote brown pants and OD green top. The brown aproximates the leaves, dirt and trunks of trees or bushes, the green aproximates the foilage. Using two different colors helps break up the silohuette somewhat as well.
Be careful with trying to blend in. You don't just need the clothes and equipment, you also have to sell it with knowledge and body language. Even then you're calling attention to yourself from those who you're trying to immitate. Just imagine an officer seeing you on your own and approaching you to demand an explination for why you're not at your post. Or imagine a crafty devil who's real good at sneaking that you don't see but who mistakes you for his target and *pop!*. It's good to have disguises as other options available to you but be careful how you apply what and when you do it. |

Being able to blend in with the prevailing herd of sheepole is invaluable...e.g. I speak in a more stilted manner than that in which I write, so that could potentially lead to complications, so I'd likely stand out in the event I opened my mouth.
If I could not blend in, though, or if they are using RFIDs or other IDs which I could not replicate, I may as well give the f&ckers something to think about... Oh, and DogFarm, you have some *ahem* Columbian stuff on your nose. |

DogFarm just loaded up at Brooks Brothers because if you are going to be a dog you should be a well dressed dog and making clothes will get expensive.
They are having a big sale...the secret code is "FRIEND35" |

I kinda doubt we will ever see Russian or German troops on our soil. Chinese troops? May BE.
President JFK signed a 'contract' for the Hong Kong Police Department to provide troops to the US government in case of a local 'uprising'. THESE DAYS HKPD is basically the Chinese Army. Their 'SWAT' team is actually two battalions of Chinese Special Forces. So, with THAT IN MIND... http://www.alibaba.com/catalogs/3090..._Uniforms.html |

I have a few USGI MARPAT tunics I picked up at uniform sales at Camp Pendleton just a couple of years ago. A few desert and an equal number of woodland. Now that I think of it, I need to go back there and buy the trousers and hats that go with them.

Re: Military Uniforms ~ anyone here collect these ?
I use a variety of stuff, but have been shying away from BDU's in the past few years because of the crummy patterns and the military look. People will always remember somebody dressed in camo, and not every situation will be mad max.
Instead I use civilian camies when a camouflage pattern is absolutely necessary. But most of the time (even after TSHTF) you won't be hiding ALL the time and much of the time you will be in contact with others. Old faded tans and greens in durable civilian wear actually do hide much better than many military patterns (I could never understand why they put black in the woodland pattern and always painted over it with brown or rust coloured spray paint); and even more important won't make you look all that suspicious when the cops see you working your garden or walking through a field on your way to poach a turkey post SHTF. Believe me, even if your gun is hidden or dropped, and somebody sees you dressed in BDU's or other camies in the woods - they know something is up. If they see you in your subdivision wearing BDU's, well you are just plain dumb. |
Re: Military Uniforms ~ anyone here collect these ?
True, but I still think they're good to have anyway. You never know where or when they might come in handy.
